07Fittings / Equivalent Lengths

Workbook fitting model: each count is converted to equivalent straight-pipe length using the workbook diameter interpolation and viscosity factor. Counts are optional and default to zero.

08Hydraulic System Calculation

Uses the workbook friction method at the entered duty flow: velocity, Reynolds number, 64/Re for laminar flow, Blasius through the transition range, and the workbook Nikuradse correlation above Re 12,000. Equivalent fitting lengths are included. Pump-specific pulsation is calculated for each candidate using the workbook pulsation correlation and the entered reduction percentages.

09Pump Candidates

Candidate foundation derived from the workbook manufacturer data sheets. Required RPM is calculated from displacement per revolution. Maximum pressure and the workbook continuous/intermittent pressure-RPM envelopes are screened against the estimated hydraulic differential pressure. Hose-life derating and final motor/gearbox checks are not yet applied.

10Workbook Operating Envelope Curve

Reproduces the main Excel Overview concept against pump speed: manufacturer continuous/intermittent pressure envelopes, calculated system pressure, inlet absolute pressure, pulsation estimate, flow, and the selected duty point. Manufacturer pressure/RPM limits are read from the workbook tables. Hose-life and required-power overlays remain pending until those Excel calculation layers are ported.

Excel troubleshooting field S45. Blank during normal sizing.

The workbook comment associates this field with diagnosing a suction problem from hose flattening. It is retained as an advanced input, not a normal sizing requirement.

Sizing engine: Phase 5 enabled: manufacturer/model selection is driven by the editable WordPress Pump Database. Existing operating-envelope data remains separate and is linked by manufacturer/model. Hose-life, required-power, motor/gearbox, and final pump-selection checks remain for later phases.
