Now, it needs to be said that EPANET is an open-source and free program, whereas Pipe Flow Expert is a commercial tool for engineers. EPANET is very useful when all features are implemented as intended, but it does not have the possibility to make good pump selections.

Pipe Flow Expert remains a program of choice when it comes to selecting pumps in elaborated distribution networks. But also in most cases, it is very useful finding the causes of failure.
